I lost a close friend and sister last Sunday. It is hard to cope with this loss but I know she is happy to be with those who have gone before her. I cherish the memories of our childhood in Copland Park and Hampton, the family gatherings at the cottage in Ware Neck, and her trips to Texas to see Momma and our family. She was happiest in Ware Neck where she could crab, fish, feed her birds and watch her grandchildren and greatgrandchildren play. She loved having all of our family from Lynchburg and western Pennsylvania. Many times there would be 20+ spending the night in that little house with one bathroom.
Eileen was a great communicator and loved talking to everyone she met.She should have written a society column for the Daily Press because she knew everything that was going on in Hampton.
She worked at the Shoe Box in Hampton and from the elite to the down and out she treated everyone with dignity. As a young girl I would work with her and couldn't believe how she loved everyone-even those who had newspaper wrapped around her feet coming from the crab factory. She treated those workers the same as the debutants.
Eileen, you were one in a million.
We love and miss you.
Wendy
