Elizabeth HALL Obituary

GLOUCESTER - Elizabeth Hannah Hall (Betty) went to be with her maker in her heavenly home on Nov. 20, 2010.
She was born in Cass, W.Va., on July 28, 1917, to Dr. Uriah and Laura Hannah. The fourth of five girls, she graduated from Madison College in 1939 and moved to Gloucester where she was employed as a teacher for two years. Then, she took a position in the payroll department at Langley Field. After marrying J. Ellis Hall in 1941, she became a full-time homemaker.
She was preceded in death by her four sisters and her son, John Douglas Hall.
She is survived by Ellis, her husband of 69 years, as well as two sons, Jim and his wife, Pat of Annapolis, Md., and Fred and his wife, Carolee of Richmond, Va. She is also survived by seven grandchildren, 10 great-grandchildren, and numerous nieces and nephews.
Betty was a member of Newington Baptist Church for 64 years, where she served as a primary Sunday school teacher for over 30 years. In addition, she taught Bible school, was an active member of the Corr Sunday School class, the VIPs, and the W.M.U. She was also a member of the Gloucester Women's Club.
A visitation is planned from 7 to 8:30 p.m. tonight, Nov. 22, 2010, at Andrews Funeral Home. The funeral will be held at Newington Baptist Church on Tuesday, Nov. 23, at 2 p.m., with interment following in the church cemetery.
In lieu of flowers, donations may be made in her name to the Gideons International or the Newington Baptist Church Building Fund.
The family would like to thank the staff at Sander's Nursing Home and Tammy Wright, for their compassionate and faithful caregiving. View and post condolences on our online guestbook at dailypress.com/guestbooks.

Dear Friends, my husband, Gerald Thompson Shrader, lived in Cass from 1937-1945. He remembers Dr. Hannah's house, and playing with children there, probably Mrs. Hall's grandchildren. He has happy memories of your wonderful family. Our sincere sympathy on the loss of this lovely lady. Gerald and Natalie Shrader, Yorktown,Virginia.
