He leaves to cherish his memory, his loving wife, Vanessa James of Camden, N.J.; mother, Queenie Evans of Washington, D.C.; father, Robert James of Camden (deceased); aunt, Mert Lee Jones of Williamsburg, Va.;
brothers, Robert James Jr. of Buffalo, N.Y., Ricky Jones (Marilyn) of Atlanta, Ga., Morris Evans (Monique) of California, Kenneth Evans of Williamsburg (deceased); sisters, Delores Hutchins (Charles), Florence Jones of Houston, Texas, Evelyn Oliver (Mark) of New York, Jean Johnson (Ski) of Washington; daughters, Paullina Carter, Constance Smith, Tasha Farrar (Nelson) all of Newport News, Va., Cynthia Griffin of Camden; son, Eric Adkins of Camden. He also leaves seven granddaughters, five grandsons, and one great-grandson, a host of nieces, nephews, cousins, and friends.

My profound prayers of comfort and love to the family in their time of mourning. Elvin was a close friend full of happiness and sharing. Memories of our days on "the lot" will always remain as our "good old days". He will be sadly missed, rest in peace my brother, rest in peace!

To My Sisters Paulina, Connie, Tasha & Cynthia and and especially my brother Eric. My deepest sincere condolences. Eric, sorry you couldn't be here, you don't have to worry anymore because your dad is in a special place right now and very dear in everyone's hearts whomever he knew. I will always remember him as my dad too. He loved us all.

What turned out to be their one last wish.

Take the time to say "I'm sorry,"
"Please forgive me," "thank you" or "it's okay".

I can honestly say, "I know how you feel", losing your dad is a very hard loss, but like me, hold on to those many many years of precious memories, they will get you though your darkest hour. God makes no mistakes,so you all keep the Faith. I already know that all of you are strong enough to get though this together. Lean on your family, we are here for you.
