POQUOSON - Emily Virginia Forrest, 80, a native and lifelong resident of Poquoson, passed away Tuesday, May 15, 2012, at home surrounded by her family.
She was a charter member and Sunday School teacher at Poquoson Baptist Church, and was a long time member of the Waterman's Association. She retired in 1978 after 25 years as a hairdresser. "Miss Emmie" loved spending time with family, and cooking at family gatherings and reunions.
Emily was preceded in death by her parents, Gilbert and Alice Insley; three brothers and two sisters; and the love of her life, her husband, Tom.
She is survived by three daughters, Jean Southall and husband, Bud, Judy Stewart, and Ann Johnson; three brothers, Sid Insley and wife, Loretta, Joe Insley and wife, Louise, and Tommy D. Insley and wife, Joan; one sister, Paulette Evans and husband, Wayne; five grandchildren, Charles T. Southall (Lisa), David S. Southall (Lisa), Stacy Holloway (Vaden), Keith Stewart (Jennifer), and Kimberly Delano (Chris); 10 great-grandchildren; two "borrowed sons,' Timmy Firth and Harold Beimler; and numerous nieces, nephews and friends.
The family will receive friends tonight at 7 to 8:30 p.m. at Claytor Rollins Funeral Home, Poquoson, and other times at the home. A celebration of life service will be held at 1 p.m. Friday, at Poquoson Baptist Church by Pastor John Pouchot. Burial will follow at Parklawn Memorial Park, Hampton.
