Evelyn STUBBLEFIELD Obituary
She was born on June 1, 1946, to the late Leroy McNair Sr. and Alberta Hunt McNair.
Evelyn was educated in the Norfolk Public School. She was in the graduating class of 1966 from Booker T. Washington High School. She served as a Deaconess and on the Usher Board for many years. In January 2007 she retired from the U.S. Government.
She is survived by her husband, James P. Stubblefield; two stepdaughters, Lolita (Ron) Davis and Rositia Stubblefield; three grandchildren, Sean, Alexandra and Andrew; one sister, Alberta Davis of Chesapeake, Va.; one brother, Leroy (Jean) McNair of Norfolk, Va.; devoted nieces, Kimberly (Tommy) Davis-Carrington, Karla McNair-Toliver and Vanessa (Marvin D.) Harris Smith; nephews, Anthony (Emerald), Keith (Maxine), Clinton and Damon McNair. Evelyn also leaves three dedicated friends, Merlene Franklin, Valentenia Smith and Chandra Garcia. Many other caring relatives and friends. She also leaves a devoted "little sister," Vanessa D. Grooms.
A viewing will be held from 1 to 3 p.m. Sunday, July 11, 2010, at Nickelson-Cummings Funeral Home, 4303 Victoria Blvd., Hampton, (757)728-0122. Funeral service will be held at 11 a.m. Monday, July 12, 2010, at Bethel Temple Assembly of God, 1705 Todds Lane, Hampton, VA 23666. Deacon Stubblefield and family,
I was very saddened to learn of the passing of Deaconess Stubblefield. She was a wonderful woman and always had positive things to say to me when we talked. Have faith in knowing she was a blessing to many who knew her. My heart and prayers are with you as your mourn your wife.

My heart truly goes out to you and your family. Although I still have my biological mother, Mrs Stubblefiel was a mother to me. She was very imspiring to me in every way. I remember going to the adult bible study and she would always be looking for me and would save me a seat. That truly is a memory worth holding on to.I have enjoyed everything about her sweet personality, kind heart, loving and caring spirit. She truly was a Great Woman of God and still is in her spirit. There are so many great things that I could tell you about her but the one thing that mattered the most was her willingness to serve the Lord God. My prayers are with you and your family. The Lord will give you strength at this moment in your life as you have lost a special love one. She will always be with you in spirit. I send my love and blessing.

May God be with you and give you peace as you grieve the passing of my friend, Deaconess Stubblefield. She was a fine person and I enjoyed the time that I spent knowing her and talking with her. Hold fast to your faith in God. Deaconess Stubblefield would want it that way. May God richly bless you and keep you in His care. Deaconess Stubb (as I called her) and I had a long talk about 3 or 4 months ago and I know that her peace was given to her through her relationship with God. Deacon Jackson and I love you and our hearts are heavy, also.
