Memories and Condolences
for Everette SMITH

Not sure what to say?

January 27, 2010

My darling husband, thank you for being the man that you were and for the man you became after the illness robbed you of your memories. You taught me a different kind of love than the one we always had for each other. The kind that can only be understood by one who has walked that path we shared for the last four years of our lives.Thank you for allowing me to truly know what love means. Those memories will remain in my mind and heart until we meet again in God's Kingdom.Your loving wife , Shirley

Shirley,
You are in my thoughts and prayers. May the Lord bless and comfort you at this time of sorrow. Everette has always been so special to me and our family. He will certainly be missed. My thoughts of him always put a smile on my face because of his humor and the fact that he was such a devoted family man. May you and the rest of the family be comforted by your faith at this time.

Dearest Shirly & Family,
You know that our brother Everette is no longer suffering and that is the only comfort we can have during this difficult time. You know I would have been there if I had known about the service, but that was not within my control. I loved Everette like a brother and know that he will be missed. I love you and the family as well and you will remain in my prayers. I will plan on a visit in the near future. Shirley, I know that he would want you to now rest and start living for the remainder of your family because they need you too. I know it would be easier to give up but there are many who love you and depend on you so just rest and heal your heart, mind and physical body. Your loving memories will also be near to you and know how much he loved you. May the peace and the love of Jesus now fill your heart.

Everette always had a smile or a joke to brighten the day. His hugs were good, too. He opened his heart and home and you were never a stranger. We enjoyed our time with Everette and will miss hearing about his adventures. Our thoughts and prayers are with the family. He will always be with us in our hearts. We love you all. Ann and Van

Papa- i know you were so proud to see the whole family gathered together today. I love how we all got to be with each other during this time, but I wish this would not have been the reason for us to be together. I love you so much, and recently I have been looking at pictures of you and me when I was a baby, and I realize just how much you loved me... I loved you so much too and I really wish I could have the chance to tell you that, because I never told you just how much I loved you... but somehow I think you knew. We all miss you, but we know we will definatley see you again. Love you Papa. Can't wait to see you again.. ?

Even with the plan of salvation firmly in our minds and hearts, we miss our loved ones as they move on to other adventures. For me, knowing of the love and caring of our Heavenly Father, family, and friends strengthened and lifted me.
I'll always remember Brother Smith's cheerfulness and humor.

To the Smith Family,
I worked with Everette for several years, in X18. Socially, and at work he was a fine man. It was clear to me that home and family meant a lot to him. His good nature and friendly way will be missed.

Although I never met you, I saw you in Bev's eyes. There is never a time that I have seen her that she didn't speak her love and fondness of you. I know you will be missed greatly.

Nana, I wish I could find the words to convey how truly sorry I am. We will all feel this loss, but I know our grief doesn't compare to yours. The love that you and Papa shared set such a wonderful example for all of us. I'd like to thank you both for showing us what it means to be a devoted spouse, parent, and grandparent.

To the Smith family:

I'm so sorry for your loss. I enjoyed spending time with your family many years ago (with Cookie and Eddie). Everette and Shirley were like an extra set of parents at the time. I remember those times fondly.

You all are in my thoughts and prayers.

To Shirley, Barbara, Eddie, Beverly, and Billy: please accept my condolences for the loss of a wonderful man. I often told people that Mr. and Mrs. Smith were like second parents to me when I was in my teens hanging out with Barbara and Eddie. I admired Mr. Smith and always respected him for his patience and mild manner. I know you all will miss him terribly, but I also know that you understand that he stayed with you as long as he could, bound to this world by your love and the caring that you showed in his last few years. May God bless you all.

Papa, you were such a great man and that amazes me. You were so proud of your work and you loved your family so much. Alzheimer’s surely didn't stop you; it just merely slowed you down.
Our whole family is so blessed to have had you in our lives.
Honestly, you were the greatest man in my life, and my hero. :)
