VIRGINIA BEACH - Frank Buck, 77, went to be with the Lord on October 30, 2013. Born September 30, 1936 in Bradenton, FL, he was the son of the late Carson and Annie Buck. He grew up in Newport News and Norfolk and graduated from Granby High School in 1954. Frank was honored as the Outstanding Football Player for the city of Norfolk in 1953 and received the Football Sportsmanship Award from the Jaycees in 1960. He went on to play football and graduate from Hampden Sydney College where he forged many lifelong friendships and was a member of Kappa Alpha fraternity. After his graduation in 1958, he remained an active alumnus and attended many Summer College sessions, sporting events, and class reunions. Frank retired as a Territory Manager after 24 years with Amoco Oil Company and went on to work as a Realtor with Prudential Towne Realty. Frank will be most remembered for his devotion to serving God and his fellow man. He was an active member of Deep Creek Baptist Church where he served for many years as a Deacon and Finance Committee member. Whenever and wherever there was a need, Frank was there lending a hand. His compassion was evident through his endless hours of community service work and charitable contributions to CHKD, Boys & Girls Clubs, the
, and many more. He served as a Board Member for the Boys and Girls Clubs for over 20 years. Left to cherish his memory are his wife of 20 years, Carol Charles Buck; two daughters, Beverly Coleman of Winter Park, FL and Margaret Hernandez Jacksonville, FL; son, Scott Buck of Johnstown, PA; step-daughter, Chelsea King of Virginia Beach, VA; his devoted sister Mary Ann Wiley and her husband Dick, of Williamsburg, VA. Frank is survived by four handsome grandsons, Alex, Taber, Teague, and Cutler Coleman, and three beautiful granddaughters, Elena and Julia Hernandez, and Story Jackson. The family will receive friends at Woodlawn Funeral Home at 6329 East Virginia Beach Blvd, Norfolk, VA on November 1, 2013 from 6:00 - 8:00 pm.
