Geneva Batts Obituary

NEWPORT NEWS - Geneva Baker Batts, 77, of Carrollton, died Saturday, Oct. 20, 2001, in Riverside Hospital. She was a native of Rocky Mount, N.C., and had been a resident of Newport News for 33 years prior to moving to Carrollton 16 years ago. Mrs. Batts retired as a Department Manager with Miller and Rhodes after 20 years of service. She was a member of Newmarket Baptist Church. She is survived by her husband, William G. Batts; a daughter, Vicki B. Bukovitz of Aiken, S.C.; a son, Rodney W. Batts of Yorktown; five grandchildren, Brian Bukovitz of Chattanooga, Tenn., Laura Bukovitz of Knoxville, Tenn., Rodney W. Batts II of Yorktown, Kara Linkous and Amber Linkous of Yorktown. The family will receive friends 6 to 8 p.m. Monday evening at Peninsula Funeral Home. A funeral service will be conducted 2 p.m. Tuesday at Newmarket Baptist Church. Entombment will follow in Parklawn Memorial Park. Memorials may take the form of contributions to either Newmarket Baptist Church Building Fund or the Alzheimer's Association, Hampton Roads Chapter, 20 Koger Executive Center, Norfolk, VA.
