YORKTOWN, VIRGINIA - George E. Caswell, Jr. of Yorktown passed away peacefully on October 5th, 2013. He was preceded in death by his parents, George & Dorothy Caswell of Newburyport, Ma., a son Mark, of Derry, N.H., and a son, John of Leesburg, Va. as well as sisters Dorothy, Barbara, and Gwendolyn of Newburyport, Ma. George was born Aug. 30", 1924 in Newburyport, Ma. and was a retired school principal. A disabled World War Two veteran, George served in the Asiatic Pacific Theater as a member of the Armored Forces and later became a member of the Army's occupation of Okinawa following the end of the war. George was a graduate of Newburyport High School in Ma. and earned his B.S., Ed.M, and CAGS from Boston University. Graduate work was done at Tufts, Northeastern, and Harvard Universities. He was a school principal for the town of Lynnfield, Ma. For 33 years, also serving as the Mathematics and Science Coordinator. Professionally George was a member of the National Education Assoc., the National Council of Teachers of Mathematics, and the Retired Educators of Ma. He is a life member of the D.A.V. and the American Legion Post 368, as well as a member of the Loyal Order of Moose. His Masonic memberships included St. John's in Newburyport, Ma. and the Scottish Rite of Freemasonry in Newport News, VA. He was a deacon at Warwick United Church of Christ for many years before becoming a member of Yorkminster Presbyterian in Yorktown. Survivors include his wife of 64 years, Marion P. Caswell of Yorktown, a son, Paul and his wife June of Yorktown, a grandson, Cory also of Yorktown, two brothers, Donald Caswell of Smithfield, Me. and William of Newburyport, Ma., and a daughter-in-law, Eilana Caswell of Leesburg, Va.
