Harry Dickson Obituary

HAMPTON - Harry S. Dickson, 69, died Thursday, Oct. 29, 2009.
A native of Catskill, N.Y., he was a resident of Hampton for 40 years. He was a graduate of Christopher Newport University with a degree in accounting. In 1997 he retired after 38 years of service with the federal government. He retired with a rank of MSGT after 21 years followed by 17 years in Civil Service. He was an active member of St. Cyprian's Episcopal church, serving on several committees, also a member of the Beau Brummell Social and Civic Club, and the Male Crusaders Male Chorus.
Preceded in death by his parents, Harry and Amelia J. Dickson; and his beloved wife, Margaret F. Dickson.
Left to cherish his memory, two sons, Karim Hamid of Tomah, Wis., Kevin T. Haynes of Portsmouth, Va.; one daughter, Stephanie H. Kendall of Hampton, Va.; three grandchildren, Aisha N. Kendall, Kevin Haynes and Steven Haynes; two brothers, George Dickson of Georgia, and Harold Dickson of Catskill, N.Y.; four sisters, Joan Sims, Carole Watson, Gloria Ford all of Catskill, N.Y., and Catherine Thomas of Kissimmee, Fla.; and a host of nieces and nephews.
A memorial service will be held on Tuesday, Nov. 3, at noon at St. Cyprian's Episcopal Church, 1242 W Queen St., Hampton, with the Rev. Dennis Patterson.
Memorial Contributions can be made to the St. Cyprian's Building Fund.
