Hattie Mae HEELSTONE

NORFOLK - Hattie Mae Heelstone died peacefully Oct. 13, 2010, at Sentara Nursing Center in Virginia Beach.
She was predeceased by her parents, Fred G. and Letha B. Coggins and husband, Carl H. Heelstone.
She was born in Chatham, Va., in 1924. She resided in Hampton, Va., until 1961 when she relocated to California and resided there until 1994. She returned to Hampton to be closer to her aging parents and family.
She is survived by her daughters, Patricia T. Heflin and her husband, Dan of Norfolk, Bernadette P. Schaub and her husband, Alan of Murphy, N.C.; her granddaughter, Tiffany S. Lovell and husband, Ken of Marble, N.C.; her sister, Norma G. Cisler; and brother, Earl J. Adkins of Saint Joseph, Mo.
Hattie was a vibrant woman who never met a stranger and had a smile for everyone. She enjoyed gardening, travel, music, and singing. Her zest for life will be missed by all who knew her.
The family will receive friends on Monday, Oct. 18, from noon to 12:45 p.m. at Parklawn-Wood Funeral Home in Hampton. A graveside ceremony will follow at 1 p.m. in Parklawn Memorial Park with the Rev. Win Lewis of Christ and St. Luke's Episcopal Church officiating.
The family thanks Dr. Dau Le, the nursing staff, and Sentara Hospice for their loving care during her four year residency.
Memorial donations may be made to the Alzheimer's Association.
