Helen BATTEN Obituary

NEWPORT NEWS - Helen B. Batten, 91, was peacefully escorted by God's Angels into eternal rest on Wednesday, July 15, 2010, after a lengthy illness.
Helen was preceded in death by her husband, Benjamin Batten Sr.; her parents, Elder William and Rose Howell; four sisters; one brother; and a son.
She is survived by one daughter, Cecilia Batten; one brother, William Howell; a host of other relatives and friends.
Funeral services will be held at 7 p.m. Wednesday, July 21, 2010, at United House of Prayer For All People, 1811 Ivy Ave., Newport News. Viewing will be two hours prior to the service. Interment will be 10 a.m. Thursday, July 22, 2010, in Pleasant Shade Cemetery. Hello,
I worked with Barbara Howell for years and knew Mrs. Helen Batten well. I was so sorry to hear of her death. I was away at the time of her death and was not able to attend the funeral.
The family have my sympathy.

I was very surprised to hear of aunt Helen's death. I had just seen her a few days ago and told her how great she looked. She was a wonderful person and will be missed by all of us.
