TOANO - Hestoria Minkins Banks life's journey ended on Thursday, May 16, 2013, in Sentara Williamsburg Regional Medical Center. Her life began on April 22, 1949, the daughter of the late Hyler and George Minkins, Sr., in Blanche, North Carolina. In her youth, she accepted Christ into her life and attended Little Zion Baptist Church. She was educated in the Williamsburg/James City County Public Schools. She spent most of her life living in Chicago, Illinois. Hestoria retired from the United States Postal Service in Chicago, after thirty-six years of untiring service. She was a joy and an inspiration to all who knew her and she will be greatly missed by her family and friends. She leaves to cherish her precious memories, her sons, Steven Banks and Nathan Banks; her sisters, Geraldine Moore (Jerome), Doressa Lucas, Evelyn Ruttley and Nora West (James); her brothers, Ronnie Minkins (Aleta), Mark Minkins and Jerry Minkins; her eleven grandchildren; her four great-grandchildren; her aunts and uncles; her nieces and nephews; and a host of other loving relatives and many caring friends. A celebration of her life will be held 1:00 p.m. on Wednesday, May 22, 2013, in Little Zion Baptist Church with the Rev. Linwood Gatling officiating. Interment will follow in the church cemetery. Family and friends will assemble at 117 Howard Drive by 12:00 noon on Wednesday. Mrs. Banks may be viewed only in the church on Wednesday, beginning at 11:00 a.m., until the hour of her service.
