Hugh ROBINSON Obituary

WILLIAMSBURG - Deacon Hugh Howard Robinson entered into eternal rest on Monday, April 5, 2010, in Riverside Regional Medical Center.
He began his life's journey on Nov. 14, 1931, in York County, Va. "Daddy Hugh", as he was so often called, was the younger of two children born to the late Henry and Ivey Robinson.
At an early age, he gave his life to Christ and joined Oak Grove Baptist Church, where he remained a faithful member until his death. He served his church as a member of the Deacon's Board and a member of the Missionary Ministry and the Men's Chorus. In addition, he was the President and a dedicated member of the Wise Gospel Singers for many years. Hugh proudly served his country in the United States Marine Corps. He retired from Sheldon Wood Products, in Toano, after many years of service.
He was united In Holy Matrimony to Deaconess Elizabeth Robinson. Unto this union, they were blessed with six loving children.
Until his health failed, Hugh enjoyed his daily routines. Most importantly he could be found early in the morning sitting under a tree reading his Bible. He loved to ride his bike and make silver rings. Hugh was a kind, loving and caring person, who was dedicated to his family and his church. He had a sense of humor that would bring laughter and smiles to uplift the spirit of those around him. He enlightened the hearts of so many people with the songs that he sang. Some of his favorite selections were; "When I call on God, He will Come to my Rescue", "I am Redeemed, Bought with a Price", "I am a Living Testimony", "Just One Drop of the Blood of Jesus", "Two Wings" and "Everyday I'm Walking with the King".
He was also preceded in death by his brother, Marshall Robinson.
He leaves to cherish his blessed memories, his wife, Deaconess Elizabeth Robinson; his sons, Charlie Wise (Patricia), Pastor Venton Robinson (Rosemary) and Herman Robinson (Mary); his daughters, Annette Floyd (Willie), Julia Robinson and Barbara Ruttley; his 20 grandchildren; his 17
great-grandchildren; his sister-in-law, Lucille Wallace; his niece, Henrietta Morman and his other nieces; his nephew, Alvin Robinson and his other nephews; his special adopted children, Ann Matthews, Barbara Randall, Mildred Walker and Minister Robert Keyes; his two devoted friends, Dea. Robert Hall and Lucius Jones; and a host of other loving relatives and caring friends.
A funeral service will be held 1 p.m. Thursday, April 8, 2010, in Mt. Ararat Baptist Church with the Rev. Steven Keller officiating. Interment will follow in Williamsburg Memorial Park. Family and friends will assemble at 521 Waller Mill Road by noon on Thursday. Mr. Robinson may be viewed in the funeral home (tonight) Wednesday, from 5 to 7 p.m.
Professional service entrusted to the staff of Whiting's Funeral Home, 7005 Pocahontas Trail Williamsburg, Va., 757-229-3011. View and post condolences on our online guestbook at dailypress.com/guestbooks.
