Ingrid D. Jones

WILLIAMSBURG - Ingrid Dolores Jones, 80, passed away on Nov. 5, 2009.
Born in Berlin, Germany, Ingrid spent her school years in Austria and Czechoslovakia with other school children. She returned to Berlin after the war and served an apprenticeship becoming a master tailor. She met her husband, Dan, while he was in the Army in Berlin. At the end of Dan's tour they moved to Williamsburg, where they were married in the Williamsburg UMC by the Rev. Jimmy Brown.
Ingrid worked at Casey's Department Store and the College Shop for many years before opening her own business, The Blossom House. She became a Master Horticulturist, and became skilled as a stained glass artist in the later years of her life. She retired in 2005, and enjoyed traveling with her husband Dan all around the world. Ingrid loved her animals, including Arni, her constant companion.
Ingrid was preceded in death by her parents, Franz and Hilda Pilz.
She is survived by her loving husband of 54 years, Dan Jones; nephew, Enoch (Scott) Haley Jr. and his wife, Kathy; and niece, Dru York and husband, Maury.
The family will receive friends from 1 to 2 p.m. Tuesday, Nov. 10, 2009, at Nelsen Funeral Home, 3785 Strawberry Plains Rd., Williamsburg. Funeral services will be held at 2 p.m. Tuesday, Nov. 10, at Nelsen Funeral Home.
