YORKTOWN - Jack F. Gayle, 78, died at home Wednesday, July 25, 2012, after a long illness.
He was a native of Newport News graduating from Newport News High School in 1953. After serving in the United States Marine Corps, he graduated from the NASA Apprentice School and worked for NASA from 1957-1995.
He is survived by his wife, Joanne Gayle, of Yorktown; his sons, Jeffrey Gayle, of Gloucester, and Jay Gayle and wife Andrea, of Newport News; three special grandchildren, Hunter Gayle, Alexis Gayle, Emma Gayle; sisters, Mary Stenger, Phyllis Colbert and Ann Spencer; and many loved nieces and nephews.
Family will receive friends from 3:30 to 5 p.m. Sunday, July 29, 2012, at Peninsula Funeral Home. A graveside service will be conducted at 11 a.m. Monday in Peninsula Memorial Park.
