Jacob DuBOSE Obituary
Born on Nov. 9, 1989, Jacob was a 2008 Bethel High School graduate who was finishing up an Associate's Degree in Business from TNCC. Jacob was a bright, gregarious young man who was a fiercely loyal and loving son, brother, grandson, and friend, as well as an accomplished violinist.
Jacob is mourned by his mother, Ruth Hathaway of Hampton; his father, Charles "Tommy" DuBose of Gloucester; his older sister, Sarah DuBose of Clemson, S.C.; his older brother, Jeremiah DuBose of Hampton; his loving girlfriend, Holly Gannon of Hampton; his godson, John Brayden Harrell of Hampton; his grandmothers, Soon Fe DuBose of Newport News and Mary Estes Cumming of Hampton; as well as countless other family members and friends whose lives he touched. Jacob will be missed by many.
The family will receive friends from 6 to 7:30 p.m. Thursday, June 17, at Parklawn-Wood Funeral Home.
A celebration of Jacob's life will be at 3 p.m. Friday, June 18, at the funeral home. Interment will follow at St. John's Cemetery in Hampton.

I hardly know what to say. You were such a nice guy. Such a good friend. You always knew what to say to make us laugh. Seriously, man. I uploaded the video of VJCL on Facebook and you're the funniest person on that video.
I wish I had better words. I wish I had words that meant more; that could better commemorate you...but all I have right now are these.
You were just...always such a kind person. I'll miss you, as will so many other people. Remember the Windex? Hahaha...and the hole punches in Decker's drink? And the Happy Birthday Rome/Mr.Decker party? They would never have been as fun without you there.

Jacob was one of my best friends we worked together at the swamp and hung when we had time. he always knew how to make someone laugh and smile when they were down. i just wish we all could of had more time to spend with him before he left us.

Tommy, Ruth, Sarah, Jeremy, Grandma DeBose, Grandma Cumming, and other family members, Holly and friends,
It has taken me some time to be able to write this. My heart goes out to each and everyone of you. Tommy and Ruth, you raised a fine young man and he will be deeply missed by all who knew him. His life was taken way... to short and he left an everlasting impression on everyone's heart that knew him. He was the most kindess, gentle, caring, lovable and respected young man that I have ever known. I will dearly miss his smiles and hugs. He had this way of making you laugh when you were around him. No matter what mood you were in, he always made you laugh. It's no suprise to me that there were so..... many people at his funeral. What a great kid! He is looking down on all of us right now and smiling because he knows how much he is loved and knows that one day we will all be together again!
To Jacob's friends, keep Jacob alive in your hearts and remember him the way he was. He is a angel now, so go and spread his charming ways throughout your lives, give out his hugs and tell people that you love them and he will be with you forever. May GOD Bless all of us. Let us continue to spread Jacob's legacy throughout our lives.

jacob was an amazing person all around. he never once had anything negative to say.. i didnt know him as well as most, but for the breif period i did know him he always had a smile on his face, and was always laughing. he was definitely like a big loveable teddy bear.. and he loved everyone so much. I only Knew Jacob for maybe four years but in the time since I first met him I learned a lot. Because of Jacob I met many people I probably would have never met. He introduced me to so many new things and new people. I always enjoyed hanging with Holly and Jacob. I am really going to miss all those nights. But I will always remember and Keep in my heart all the great times we all shared together. I will always remember all those crazy nights at the swamp, also the random nights in the taco bell drive thru! Jacob was an amazing person and brought happiness and laughter to my life each and every time I saw him. I cant wait until we can all be Reunited again. I have know Jacob every since elementary school (Forrest) he was always the happy, smiling, joking kid. I followed him all the way to high school (Bethel). From a little boy to grown man he always had the shining personality. Its a shame we had to lose such a great person from the class of 08. But you will be really missed so Rest in Peace Jacob.

My heart is sad, but I can be happy knowing that Jacob is with God and the angels. He has no pain, only infinite joy and fulfillment....and I will see him again. Jacob will be greatly missed by his extended paintball family. We have known Jacob over many years of play and camaraderie and didn't grow to love him, because we loved him instantly. He was always ready to offer a hug for a hello, goodbye, or just because. He was every superlative one can think of when describing an unconditionally good person and friend. I cannot imagine living without him, much less playing the game without him. We will think about him every day for the rest of our lives. I miss you dearly Toco!

I will miss Jacob. He was a big teddy bear to me. I am so sorry this happened. I remember Jacob as a laid back polite kid. Always giving me a hug. I always considered him part of my family. I will never forget the holidays and cookouts when he and Holly would come over. The good are always taken too young.
