CHOPTANK, MD. - Jacquelyn Amos Lovell, 80, of Choptank, passed away Friday, Oct. 15, 2010, at home surrounded by her loving family.
Born in Macon, Ga., on Sept. 3, 1930, she was the daughter of the late Howard Simpson and Mary Hugh Frazier Amos.
Her early education was in North Carolina, then she received her Bachelor's Degree at Winthrop College in Gastonia, S.C., and went on to receive her Master's Degree at John Hopkins University in Baltimore, Md. She started her teaching career at the Park School and City College, both in Baltimore, Md., before moving to the Maryland's Eastern Shore with her family in October 1966. She was a teacher for the Caroline County Board of Education for 30 years prior to her retirement, while at Colonel Richardson High School, she started and ran the high school 'Play Shop'. She was also the Prom Chairman for seven years. She was a member and Past President of the Caroline County Teacher's Association and a member of the Republican Women. During this time she also co-owned 'Janomi Fashion's' in Easton, Md. She was an avid pet lover and especially her love for dogs. She also enjoyed knitting, crocheting, and quilting in her spare time.
She is survived by her husband of 57 years, R. Eugene Lovell, whom she married on June 6, 1953, and by two sons, Coe Howard Lovell and his wife, Renee' of Hebron, Md., and Clinton Eugene Lovell, Dallas, Texas; and by two daughters, Stephanie Irene Lee and her husband, Mike of Choptank, Md., and Stacey Lynn Berland, Hamptom, Va. She was survived by seven grandchildren, Holly Lynnette Cerini and her husband, Adam, Hannah Marie Lovell, Heather Michelle Lee, Melanie Louise Lind, Garrett Eugene Lee, Katelynne Anastasia Berland, and Haley Dakota Berland; and one sister, Mary Hugh Cary, Baltimore, Md.
She was predeceased by her son, Kyle Hugh Lovell, who passed away in 2005; and by her son-in-law, Kevin Berland, who passed away in 2007.
Funeral services will be conducted at 1 p.m. on Wednesday, Oct. 20, 2010, at Williamson Funeral Home, 311 S. Main St., Federalsburg, Md., with the Rev. C.L. Reynolds and the Rev. Ronnie Midgett of Manteo, N.C., officiating. The family will receive friends at the funeral home from 6 to 9 p.m. Tuesday, Oct. 19, 2010. Her interment will be private. A celebration of her life is going to be held at the Preston Volunteer Fire Company, Preston, Md., at 6 p.m. Friday, Oct. 22, 2010.
