James Wilkerson Obituary

LANEXA - James E. Wilkerson Sr., 57, of Lanexa, passed away Monday Nov. 16, 2009 at Williamsburg Sentara Hospital, surrounded by his family after a courageous battle with cancer.
James worked with CSX Railroad for more than 20 years. He was an active member of Tabernacle United Methodist Church, where he served as church council chairman and a lay speaker.
He was preceded in death by his father, William Wilson Wilkerson; and a brother, William Wilson Wilkerson Jr.; and a brother-in-law Carl Reynolds.
James is survived by his wife of almost 40 years, Ruby Wilkerson; three sons, James Edward Wilkerson and his wife, Misty, Steven Eric Wilkerson and wife, Becky, and Mark Edward Wilkerson, all of Lanexa; his mother, Helen Wilkerson of Lanexa; two brothers, Bobby (Patricia), and Herbert Wilkerson (Joann) of Barhamsville; three sisters, Janet Hazelwood (Jerry) of Lanexa, Ann Marable (Jamie), and Rachel Reynolds of Charles City; six grandsons, Brandon, Spencer, Eric, Aaron, Stevie and Cody; and a host of aunts, uncles, nieces, nephews, cousins, and a loving in-law family.
A funeral service will be held at 2 p.m. Wednesday, at Vincent Funeral Home & Cremation Service, 417 11th Street, West Point, VA. Burial will follow in Tabernacle UMC Cemetery, Barhamsville. The family will receive friends tonight from 6 to 8 p.m., at the funeral home. Condolences may be registered at www.vincentfh.com.
