James Pressey Obituary

HAMPTON - James F. Pressey, 87, died Nov. 2, 2009, at Sentara Careplex. He was born to the late Franklin and Annie Pressey. He was a native resident of Hampton.
He served in the U.S. Army during World War II; worked as a carpenter at NASA Langley, until his retirement in 1979; and was also a Mason.
He was preceded in death by his late wife, Mildred Pressey; son, Michael Wallace; sister, Mable Jackson; and three brothers, Warren, Isiah, and Wilton Pressey.
He leaves to cherish his memory his great-niece with whom he resided with during his final years, Dominique Jackson; an uncle, John Taylor of Maryland; nieces, Adrienne Fields of Hampton, and Deborah Ponder of Maryland; a host of great-nieces and nephews, cousins and friends.
Viewing will be from 1 to 6 p.m. Friday, Nov. 6, 2009, at Nickelson-Cummings Funeral Home, 4304 Victoria Blvd., Hampton.
The Rev. Anderson Clary Jr. will conduct the funeral service at noon Saturday, Nov. 7, 2009, at Queen Street Baptist Church. Mr. Pressey will be placed in the church by 10:30 a.m. Saturday. Interment will follow in Hampton Memorial Gardens. Family and friends will assemble at 219 Parkdale Avenue, by 11a.m. Saturday. Well, "Uncle" Jimmy your journey with his us has ended; however, the memories will continue well after your home going. You most definitely fought the good fight and weathered through the storm for many years. You will be truly missed.

So long, Uncle Jimmy. We had a good time together. I told you I'd always be there for you. And even when I couldn't be, I wanted to. I just want you to know that WE ALWAYS LOVE YOU.
