James MARSHALL Obituary

HAYES - James Harvey Marshall Sr., 82, died Dec. 12, 2009 at Riverside Walter Reed Hospital.
Harvey was born and lived all his life in the Glass area of Gloucester County. He served in the U.S. Army in the European Theatre of Operations during World War II. Harvey was a member of Groves Memorial Presbyterian Church, for more than 57 years, and was a deacon and elder of the church. He was a 48-year member of the American Legion Post 75, Gloucester. He began working on the water, oystering, when he was only 11 years old. His painting career started when he went to buy paint for his boat and Doswell Dutton asked him if he would like to take on a house painting job. He loved his family and he will be dearly missed by all.
He was preceded in death by parents, Lum C. Marshall and Georgie Marshall Brown; sister, Lorraine Knutson; brothers, Allen Marshall, Everett Marshall and Samuel Marshall.
He is survived by wife of 58 years, Georgia Lee Marshall; daughter, Jo Ann Tiano and husband, Joseph; sons, J. H. Marshall Jr. and wife, Teresa, Joseph Gillen Marshall and wife, Anita; grandchildren, Kim Tiano, Kevin Marshall, Matthew Marshall, Lynsey Marshall; great-grandchildren, Amanda Marshall, Gaige Marshall; brothers, Melvin C. Marshall, Lum C. Marshall Jr.; stepbrothers, Melvin Brown and Freddie Brown; and his faithful dog "Ranger."
Funeral services officiated by the Rev. Fred Reed will be held at 11 a.m. Wednesday, at Hogg Funeral Home, Gloucester Point. Interment will follow in Rosewell Memorial Garden Cemetery. The family will receive friends from 7 to 8:30 p.m. tonight, at the funeral home.
