James BLOCKETT Obituary
Born July 7, 1930, 'Blockie" as he was known to family and friends, served honorably in the U. S. Air Force and retired from the Hampton Veterans Medical Center after many years of service to our nations veterans. Upon his retirement, Blockie also served as a Nursing Care provider to many, as caring for others was his passion.
He was preceded in death by his wife of 52 years, Annie Lee (Roy) Blockett; his parents, Cora Lee and John; and sister, Dorothy Mae Blockett.
He is survived by his son, James M. Blockett Jr.; stepsons, George Roy (Ellen), Henry Howard, Michael Howard (Vanessa); stepdaughter, Jo Anne Howard Mitchell (James); his brother, Olin Blockett; sister, Sandra Short (James); and a host of extended family and friends.
In lieu of flowers, donations can be made to the Peninsula SPCA, located at 523 J. Clyde Morris Boulevard, Newport News.
A funeral service will be held at 1 p.m. Saturday, Nov. 13, at Ronald C. Perkins Funeral Home. Interment will follow at Hampton Memorial Gardens. Viewing will be held today from noon to 6 p.m. at the funeral home.
