James Mundell Obituary

HAMPTON - James Mundell Jr., 88, died Friday, Oct. 30, 2009.
A native of Londonderry, Ireland, he had been a Hampton resident since 1961. An Air Force veteran who served during World War II, Korea and Vietnam, Mr. Mundell retired from the U.S. Air Force in 1968 after 26 years of service then went to work for the U.S. Postal Service retiring in 1981 with 13 years of service.
A volunteer at the Langley Air Force Base Hospital, he was very committed to wounded warriors. He was a member of Acacia Lodge #579, AF & AM in Taylor, Pa.
He was preceded in death by his wife, Evangeline Mundell; a brother, Herbert Mundell; and a sister, Babe Mundell.
Survivors include his children, James Mundell III of Tacoma, Wash.; two daughters, Heather Jean Reardon of Harrisonburg, Va., and Gail Joan Mileady of Lomita, Calif.; and two sisters, Annie Dwyer of Hiksville, N.Y., and Olive Mundell of Astoria, N.Y.
A graveside service with full military honors will be held at 11 a.m., Wednesday, Nov. 4, 2009, at the Albert G. Horton, Jr. Memorial Veterans' Cemetery. Dear Cousins,
I was so glad I was able to make the funeral. What a beautiful ceremony and well deserving send off for Uncle Jim. He will be missed. Treasure the memories you have and the great photos we looked at. What a living legend he was. Truely blessed for his service to our country. May he rest in peace.
