YORKTOWN, VA - Jean Hill Jordan ( Kenady), age 92 of Newport News, Virginia and Naples, Florida, passed peacefully on February 14, 2014 at The Gardens of Warwick Forest. Jean was born August 7, 1921 at Cape Charles, Virginia on the Eastern Shore and was the daughter of James and Claudia Nottingham Hill. She was a 1939 graduate of Maury High School in Norfolk. She also attended Mary Washington College. Jean married William Manson Jordan in 1941. Bill worked for Lang Construction Company in Hampton until Jean and Bill moved to Newport News in 1954. Several years later, Bill established the W.M. Jordan Construction Co. and was joined by Robert Lawson. The company is still operating today under the direction of Mr. Lawson's son, Johnny. Jean and Bill raised their five children in Newport News and Gloucester, Virginia. After Bill retired in 1983, they moved to Naples, Florida. Following Bill's death in 1991, Jean subsequently married Raymond Kenady who also preceded her in death in 2010. Jean returned to Newport News in 2010 and was a resident of The Gardens at Warwick Forest. Jean is survived by her five children, William Manson Jordan III and his wife Mary of Yorktown, VA, Claudia Jordan Scherillo and her husband Francesco of Naples, Italy, James Jeffress Jordan and his wife Cindy of Palm Harbor, FL, Wendy Jordan Kennedy of Norfolk, VA and Bert Moore Jordan of Gloucester, VA; by her five grandchildren, Perry Jungerman, Taylor Nye Ciuffo, Glenn Nye, Kent Nye, and Jordan Kennedy, and by her two great grandchildren, Rio and Costello Ciuffo. The family wishes to thank the staff of The Gardens of Warwick Forest - Piedmont/Monticello unit for all of the wonderful care and support given to Jean and her family. It was Jean's wish to have her ashes scattered in the Chesapeake Bay as were her first husband Bill's. The family will be available from 5 PM to 7 PM at Amory Funeral Home, Grafton on Thursday, February 20, 2014 to receive guests. In lieu of flowers, the family requests memorial donations be made to Children's Hospital of the Kings Daughters.
