Jeffrey TOPPING Obituary
Jeff was born in Newport News on Feb. 1, 1979, and graduated from Peninsula Catholic High School in 1997. He graduated from Thomas Nelson Community College in 2009 with a degree in Engineering. He was employed at Northrop Grumman in the Reactor Services Dept, and was currently attending ODU.
Jeff started riding motorcycles in 2006 and loved to ride his customized Harley. His favorite rides included Boneshakers in Virginia Beach and his favorite place to shop, Hampton Roads Harley Davidson. He was a national and local chapter H.O.G. member.
Jeff was preceded by his mother, Lorraine Topping; grandmothers, Barbara Wiant and Marshall Shelton; and grandfather, James O. Topping Sr.
He is survived by his father, James and stepmother, Adrienne; brother, Timothy; and grandfather, H. Ross Wiant; his aunts, Judi Du Pont and Renee Wilson, and uncle, Stuart Wiant, and their families; and his fiancEe, Aften Petersen.
Visitation and a time of sharing will be from 7:30 to 8:30 p.m. Thursday, June 24, 2010, at W. J .Smith & Son Funeral Home.
A graveside service will be held at 3 p.m. Saturday, June 26, 2010, in Meadowbrook Memorial Gardens in Suffolk.

Although we have been co workers for a few months, I offer you and your husband, James, my heart felt sympathy and empathy.

For a short time Jeff came into our lives and we watched love grow between our daughter and Jeff. Such a sweet and gentle man. Always there to help us, never asking anything in return. We will miss him and never forget him.

Adrienne and family, I was shocked to see the passing of Jeffrey. I was best friends with Renee growing up and remember Jeffrey as a child and he obviously grew up to be quite the young man. My condolences to you and your entire family on your loss.

Jimmy and Adrienne, you may not remember me, but I was close friends with Lorraine. We went to TNCC together. I knew Jeffrey and Timmy as children and can still feel your loss.

Jimmy, Stuart and Adrienne, I regret not seeing Jeffrey as an adult since I only knew him as an adorable child in the 80's. It sounds like he was a super special son and nephew with lots of talent. Thoughts and condolences will remain in my heart forever.

I'm sorry to hear that Jeff has passed away. I attended tncc and odu with him, he went out of his way to help me out many times. I'm glad I had the chance to know him, he was one of the nicest people I have ever known.
