Joanne GRAHAM Obituary

HAMPTON - Joanne I. Graham, age 73, passed away on Thursday, June 10, 2010 at the Sentara CarePlex in Hampton.
She was a native of Red Oak, Iowa, and had been a resident of Hampton for 42 years. In 1998, after a nearly 30-year career in civil service, she retired from her secretarial duties at Langley Air Force Base. She enjoyed reading, the theatre, all types of music, and especially enjoyed Latin singers. One of her favorite activities was spending time with her family.
Surviving members of her family include her husband of almost 55 years, Ralph L. R. Graham; children, David Graham, Laura G. Favata and husband, Tony, and Lissa Graham-Schneider and husband, Russell; grandchildren, Lew Favata and wife, Ashley, and Lydia Honghua Schneider; and great-grandchildren, Eric Ferguson, Gabby Ferguson, Lauryn Favata, and Lew Favata II. She also is survived by sisters, Carolyn Stuvick, and Betty Fuller and husband, J.D.; a brother, William Stuvick and wife, Liz; and brother-in-law, Richard Graham and wife, Marilynn; numerous nieces and nephews; and her dear longtime friend, Betty (Liz) Miller.
Respecting the wishes of the decease, a graveside service is being held privately.
In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made to the American Cancer Society; or to www.lovewithoutboundaries.com, which assists in the care and adoption of orphaned Chinese children.
Two people will have the gift of sight thanks to mom's organ donation.

My deepest condolences to Ralph, Laura and all the Graham family. I never had the privilege of meeting Joanne in person, but did have the prvilege of meeting in cyberspace and were cyberfriends for over 13 yrs. Meeting on an As The World Turns message board we took our friendship to eMails. We even exchanged pictures of family and trips. She was a wonderful, sweet and kind lady and I will miss her so much. Sharing our lives through eMails and talking ATWT was such a pleasure. Know that she is with the Lord now and smiling down on all of us. God Bless all of Joanne's family and I pray for them to find peace and healing their loss.
