John POUNDERS Obituary

NEWPORT NEWS - John A. Pounders, 48, passed away on Sunday, Nov. 22, 2009.
John was a lifelong resident of the Peninsula, having graduated from Warwick High School in 1980.
Mr. Pounders was employed by Northrop Grumman since 1982 and was currently a Production Planner in Dept. 045. John also graduated from Newport News Shipbuilding Apprentice School in 1988 and Thomas Nelson Community College, where he received his Mechanical Marine Engineering Degree in 1993 and in 2004 he received his Electrical Technology Degree.
He was preceded in death by his father, Randall L. Pounders, Sr.
Survivors include his mother, Joyce Pounders McCracken and her husband, Michael of Newport News; brothers, Randy and Roy Pounders, both of Newport News, and Michael Pounders and his wife, Jessi of Hampton; and several loving nieces, nephews, aunts and uncles.
The family will receive friends from 7 to 8:30 p.m. Tuesday, Nov. 24, at Peninsula Funeral Home. Graveside services will be held at 2 p.m. Wednesday, Nov. 25, in Peninsula Memorial Park, officiated by the Rev. Cliff Jordan.

Im very sorry for your loss.I worked with John over the years and he was always fun to be around and very dedicated to his job.He always went beyond what was required of him to make sure everything was right to get the job done.Never heard John complain or have any bad words about anyone.He was very well liked by all that worked with him.He will be missed very much by all that knew him.
