NEWPORT NEWS - John D. Thompson, 69, passed away on Sept. 22, 2012, in the comfort of his home after a long illness.
John retired from NASA Langley after 37 years. In 1988 he started C & J Engraving. He enjoyed traveling, camping and being with his family.
He is preceded in death by his parents, Carl and Gay Nell Thompson.
He is survived by Connie, his wife of 30 years; daughter, Treva Burgess Bushman (Peter); brother, William Thompson (Pat); sister, Kathy Gauthier (Danny); and granddaughter, Madelynn Burgess.
A memorial will be held at 7 p.m. Friday, Nov. 2, 2012, Altmeyer Funeral Home-Riverside Chapel, 7415 River Road, Newport News, Va.
