He was preceded in death by three sisters; and one bother.
He leaves behind three beautiful children; five sisters; four brothers; and countless nieces and nephews.
A viewing will be held from 1 to 6 p.m. today, Jan. 11, 2011, at the funeral home. A funeral service will be held at 3:30 p.m. Wednesday, Jan. 12, 2011, at Nickelson-Cummings Funeral Chapel. The Carter family is receiving services of comfort by the staff at Nickelson-Cummings Funeral Home, 4304 Victoria Blvd., Hampton. I came to know Big John while we both were employed at the HRBC. He was pleasant be around and kept the little ones on task. Rest in peace Big John, all of your hurt and pain has been relieved. God has a home for you not build by hands.
