John Johnson Obituary
He was born Dec. 24, 1950, in Hampton, Va., to the late Isaiah A. and Beatrice K. Johnson.
John Lee received his education in the Newport News City School. He graduated from Carver High School class of 1969. He proudly served in the U.S. Army. He retired from Veterans Affairs Medical Center in the grounds department in 2000.
He leaves to cherish his memories, his sister, Judy E. Rice (Roland); brother, Isaiah Johnson Jr.; aunts, Dorothy K. Daughtry and Thelma Kirby of Hampton; and a host of nieces, nephews, cousins and friends.
Funeral service will be held at 11 a.m. Friday, April 16, at Ronald Perkins Funeral Home at 251 W. Queen Street Hampton, VA 23669, officiated by the Rev. Garland K. Hines Jr., Pastor of St. James United Methodist Church. Interment will follow in Albert G. Horton Jr. Memorial Veterans Cemetery, Suffolk. Viewing will be from 1 to 6 p.m. Thursday, April 10, at the funeral home.

To the family - I just wanted to express the condolences of myself and my mother, Frances Huber of Willow Park. John was the most lovely man and we will miss his wonderful smile and everyday kindness. You must be so very proud to have shared his life. I am so lucky to have had him pass though mine. Johnny was an inspiration for me growing up in Mt. Vernon. He crossed barriers that opened the doors for young black men such as myself. He was truly a great man and always had a smile and words of encouragement for everyone. My prayers and sympathy are with you all!

Life is so precious and every moment should be carefully cherished. Brother Johnson was a wonderful person. He always made you feel part of the body no matter what the circumstances were. He was an example of malehood and a faithful servant of the Lord. On behalf of my husband, Pastor Dillon, and myself, Missionary Dillon we are praying for you and your family. This was my grandpa. I loved him very much. He was always there to assist me in anything that I did. He came to support me and my brother in our games and track meets. I will miss him very much but I know that he's with people that are more like him up in Heaven. Love you Papa.

I had the pleasure of knowing Mr. Johnson from Schnucks. He was such a pleasant person who always corrected me when i addressed him as "Mr. Johnson".
