It was always a pleasure to work with Joe- his word was as good as gold, he enjoyed his work, and he never had a bad word to say about anyone.

To Joe's family
As a Canadian I had the privilege of meeting and working with Joe on some of his travels in Canada, when he was servicing and installing some of his equipment in our Composite mills. Joe was always very professional in what he did but also had a very gentle and kind manner, which was really appreciated.I was always impressed with how Joe managed in Quebec in Mills and places where little English was spoken and how Joe's personality seemed to surpass the language barrier.Joe always seemed to enjoy travelling to mills even in the more remote parts of Canada. Those of us who knew him here were concerned when we heard that he was ill and I know I speak for all Joe's Canadian friends when I say we will miss him.

To Joe's family,
Sometimes, as a professional like Joe, you have the work side of your life and the family side and the family side doesn't have the priveledge of being there when your loved one is with his professional colleages like me. I'm sure he told a lot about what he did, but you may not know what a joy it was to work with him. It was and you should know that. I had the good fortune to know and work with Joe for 30 years, not every day, but often enough that it was always great to see him and hear about his latest inventions and improvements on the products he developed for the composite panel industry. I suppose if I had to pick one trait that I loved most about Joe, in addition to his warm demeanor, it was his intellectual curiosity. He always wanted to know the why and how of things, why they were done and how they worked. Once he learned the how and why he always was thinking about why and how they could be done better, of course, and that's what endeared him to those of us who were priveledged enough to work with him. He was taken away from us too soon. I didn't know about his illness or get a chance to speak with him recently, so I'll take some solace in telling you how much he will be missed. My prayers are with you.

Joe was always a true friend: thoughtful, generous, considerate. He was a very talented programmer and designer. We have lost a fine man and dear friend.

An unbelievably kind and generous friend from the 'old school', who never ever refused any favor I asked of him.
