Joyce GARY Obituary
Joyce was one of 10 children born to the late Idell and Eugene Batten, in Newport News, Va.
Joyce was a homemaker who loved to sing, help others and loved to cook. She was very friendly.
She is survived by four sisters, Annie Sanders, Gwenlyn Vinson, Sheila Johnson, and Angela Smith; four brothers, Henry and Albert Johnson, and Johnnie and Larry Batten; a host of nieces, nephews, cousins, great-nieces, great-nephews and friends.
A viewing will be held from 1 to 6 p.m. Friday, Aug. 6, 2010, at the funeral home. A funeral service will be held at noon Saturday, Aug. 7, 2010, at Gospel Light UHC, 2614 Marshall Avenue, Newport News, VA

Thoughts and prayers to you all. Joyce was always so sweet to me when we were neighbors across the hall from one another. She'd always cook extra breakfast or Egg Foo Yound and insist that I have some! She was a friendly, generous soul.
