Dear Rusty and family, I was so sorry to hear about your loss of Karen. I remember Karen as a student nurse and how much joy and laughter she shared with those around her. I know she was a very special part of your life and on the few occasions that I saw her when you both started your family, the conversation centered on you and the girls. My prayers go out to you and your family. Sylvia Spencer {old ACLS student}

Our thoughts and prayers are with the Chase Family during this time of loss. Although my family and I have not had the opportunity to meet Karen I have been touched by reading the Wonderful comments people have said about her. We were informed of the passing by a good neighbor of the Chases family. The Warrens have a daughter Sydney who is good friends and classmate of our daughter Alexis. Alexis's uncle is a Fire Rescue EMT and we understand the line of work he chooses to do. I'm a student of the medical support field and new Volunteer. My husband and I love to help people. Our door is always open. Please let us know if you need help with the family or even yard work. Special Prayers for Rusty during this time to stay strong for his girls! We will be thinking about you all. In Christ's Love.

Rusty and Family,
It was with such sadness, grief, and disbelief when I heard of Karen's accident and death. Karen loved her family. They were always her priority.
I worked with Karen for many years at the Health Department. She was always so caring and went out of her way to help people. She will be sorely missed by her family, friends, co-workers and the community. I will keep you all in my prayers. God bless each of you.

June 17, 2010

To Mr. Chase and the Girls:
I was sincerely shaken to hear about the tragic loss of your beloved wife and mother. I know she was already an angel in your eyes. I got to meet Mrs. Chase on several occasions. I remember meeting her when she would come to Windsor Middle School and pick up her daughters for some reason or the other. I especially remember Leigh -Ann who I always called "Short Stuff". I commented to her about how much she looked like Leigh-Ann. She'd then say "well that what everybody says" I know she will be sorely missed because she was definitely loved. You couldn't help but love her because she was so easy to love. Mrs. Chase was always the same and caring person whenever I saw her. You could tell she really was a great nurse. Nurses are persons that honestly care for the whole patient and that was the kind of nurse and the kind of person she was. May all of you be comforted at this time of grief and sorrow. I pray that God will sustain you and hold you all close. Please know that you are in my thoughts and prayers.

I met Karen over 20 years ago when she was a nurse at Isle of Wight Health Dept. and I worked for IOW DSS. My husband and Rusty Chase currently communicate on various issues from time to time due to the nature of their job. The four of us met in BELK Dept. Store during the Christmas Season and it was such a pleasure to see and talk with Karen after many years. She was pleasant and friendly as she has always been. We are so very sorry for your loss and will pray that God will comfort and keep each of you during this time.

Our prayer is for God's Power to transform this tragedy into a blessing for many. Saint Paul reminds us of our faith in God's grace by saying, "And we know that in all things God works for the good of those who love him, who have been called according to his purpose."(See Romans 8:28) With you, looking for the good to come, Pastor Doug VanNiel and friends at Bethany Presbyterian Church, Zuni, VA
