Keith GIBBS Obituary

GLOUCESTER - Keith Edwin Gibbs, 55, of Gloucester, was called to be with his heavenly Father on July 6, 2010, after battling with Mesothelioma.
He was born on Dec. 20, 1954, in Norfolk, Va. He retired from Newport News Shipbuilders, in 2004, working in the X43 Nuclear Department most of the time on 2nd shift. There wasn't anything that Keith could not fix. He was a handyman in all respects. His passions were riding his Harley Davidson, fishing, hunting, and spending time with friends and family.
Keith was a strong man through his illness, and a loving person to everyone he knew. He was devoted to his family. Keith will be sadly missed by his family, lifetime friends, co-workers and his dog, "Ginger."
He was preceded in death by his parents, mother, Marian Gloria Gibbs, father, Sidney Gibbs; and two sons, Thomas A. Gibbs and David E. Gibbs. He leaves to cherish their memory his loving and devoted wife of 34 years, Theresa Norge Gibbs; two sons, Jeremy M. Gibbs and wife, Jodi of Bernville, Pa., Christopher E. Gibbs and wife, Rita of Gloucester, Va.; grandchildren, Evan White of Byron, Ga., and Kylie Gibbs of Gloucester; four brothers, Joseph Gibbs and wife Ann, of Chesterfield, Va., Sidney Gibbs and wife, Carol of Toms River, N.J., Michael Gibbs and wife, Teresa of Norfolk, Va., Kenneth Gibbs of North Carolina; one sister, Joan Ayers and husband, Bruce of Tulsa, Okla.; mother-in-law, Mary W. Norge of Virginia Beach,; and brother-in-law, Dennis Michael Norge Sr., and wife, Cindy Norge of Yorktown, Va.; and many of nephews and nieces.
The family would like to thank Margaret Louden and Karen Jadson, his devoted nurses, as well as all the staff at Riverside Hospice. Thank you to all who helped with Keith in the hospital.
The funeral service will be held at noon Saturday, July 10, 2010, at Lower United Methodist Church in Hartfield, Va., with interment in the church cemetery. After the service the family will receive friends at the Gibbs home.

Theresa, Chris & Jeremy & family, we are so sorry for your recent loss of Keith. He was truly one of a kind. A kind heart and gentle soul, we will truly miss him. We want you all to know that we are praying for your families to help lighten your grief and to know that there is a plan. God is there for you all you need to do is ask for his help and he will be there. Keith has given our family many funny memories and we will treasure each of them. We have been honored to have known Keith, he was always courageous and never complained, he was quite the strong man and he definately had his own agenda, he did not want to give up without a fight, and fight he did! But , now he has no pain and he will be there to meet us one day! We will never forget him. You all were very lucky to have had him as a husband, father, and grandfather, as well as a son and a brother. God has truly received another angel.
