Landon PIERCE Obituary

SMITHFIELD - Landon Rogus Pierce Sr. 'Fox' departed this life on Tuesday, June 22, 2010, at Consulate Health Care in Windsor
He was the son of the late Major B. Pierce and Gracie Wells Pierce. He retired in 1995 from Newport News Shipbuilding and Dry Dock Company after 33 years of service. He was a member of Rock of Lodge #975 Elks.
He leaves to cherish his memories, his children, Landon R. Pierce Jr. (Vernita) of Suffolk, Sharon Bradley (Brad) of Richmond, Va., Welton D. Pierce (Gwen) of Carrollton, Va., Rocshell Jones, Rodney O. Pierce (Velecia), Dorothy Pierce-Drewery (Melvin) all of Smithfield, Va., and Lacrecia Carter (Tommy) of Portsmouth, Va.; their mother, Barbara A. Pierce of Chesapeake; an adopted daughter, Sandra P. Debnam of Smithfield; a special and longtime friend and companion, Ruth Jones; one sister, Everdean Maney of Smithfield, Va.; two sisters-in-law, Sarah L. Pierce of Smithfield and Elizabeth B. Pierce of Philadelphia, Pa.; 19 grandchildren, one great-grandson; two devoted friends, Jesse Dew of Norfolk, Va., and Fred Spratley of Suffolk; and a host of nieces, nephews, cousins and friends.
Funeral services will be 1 p.m. Saturday, June 26, 2010, at First Gravel Hill Baptist Church. Interment will be in the Church Cemetery. Viewing from 6 to 8 p.m. Friday and one hour prior to the service Saturday at the Church.
The family would like to give a special thank you to the staff of Consulate Health Care and Heartland Hospice for their acts of kindness shown to our loved one.

Hello Pierce Family
I am sad to hear that Mr.Pierce Has passed away, We worked in the Shipyard together I havn't seen him in years, I often thought of him, your father was a mentor to me years ago he gave me some good sound advice that I apply to my life even now he was truely a good friend and I will cherrish my memories of him .
