Larry MORE Obituary

MATHEWS - Larry R. More, of Hudgins, Va., passed away on Thursday, Nov. 26, 2009, with his wife by his side.
He was born Oct. 23, 1936, the son of Gertrude Rife and David Miller More Jr. Larry graduated from Grundy High School and attended Newport News Shipbuilding Apprentice School and Norfolk Naval Shipyard Apprentice School. He was employed by the Navy and worked as an advanced planner at Norfolk Naval Shipyard. He also worked as shipyard liaison for Pearl Harbor Naval Shipyard and worked in Naval Occupational Safety and Health at NAVSEA in Washington, D.C. Larry was area supervisor with the Chesapeake Dept. of Parks 7 Rec. in the 1960's and 70's. He was also a member of Mathews Lions Club.
He was preceded in death in by his mother and father and a brother, David M. More III.
He is survived by his wife, Diana More; two daughters and son-in-law, Decie and Stan Shumate of Clayton, N.C., and Debbie More of Mechanicsville, Va.; and a son, Larry R. More Jr. of Powhatan, Va. He is also survived by four grandchildren, Dirk Campbell and Dani Rae Campbell and her child, K. J. Hockaday of Mechanicsville, Va., and Brandon More and Ashley More of Arkansas.
The family will receive friends at Foster-Faulkner Funeral Home, Mathews, from 1 to 2 p.m. Sunday, Nov. 29, 2009. A memorial service will be held at 2 p.m. immediately following the visitation.
