Laura Haupt Obituary

HAMPTON - Laura B. Harper (Maddix) Haupt, a Hampton residence since 1995, died on Monday, Sept. 14, 2009.
Mrs. Haupt was born April 19, 1914, in Grahn, Ky., the daughter of the late William Harper and Amanda Edna Binion Harper Maddix. She was also preceded in death by her husband, Harry H. Haupt; stepson, Raymond Haupt; stepdaughter, Vivian Heckert; stepfather, Fred D. Maddix Sr.; two sisters, Tewatha M. (Tommie) Colley, and Hazel M. Topping; four brothers, Julius Clifford Maddix, Fred D. (Buddy-Screek) Maddix Jr., William T. Maddix, and James F. (Jack) Maddix.
Her survivors include two sisters, Geneva Christene Forrest of Poquoson, Va., and Mary E. (Libby) Kazarnowicz of Hampton, Va.; several step-grandchildren and numerous nieces and nephews.
The family wishes to express their heartfelt thanks to her caregiver, Mrs. Terri Brown, for her years of devoted and special care.
A celebration of Laura's life will be held at 6 p.m. Thursday, Sept. 17, at Parklawn-Wood Funeral Home, after which the family will receive friends until 7:30 p.m. Graveside services and burial will be held at 11 a.m. Saturday, Sept. 19, at Rose Hill Burial Park, Ashland, Ky. Miller Funeral Home, 1941 Carter Ave., is in charge of arrangements in Ashland, Ky.
In lieu of flowers, the family requests that memorial contributions be made to a charity of their choice.

Aunt Laura was a very special person & will be greatly missed. She had a great sense of humor & an amazing memory. She will always be remembered by all that knew & loved her.
