Leon SIMMONDS Obituary

HAMPTON - Leon E. Simmonds departed this life on Good Friday, April 2, 2010, surrounded by his loving wife of 58 years, Mrs. Olga Simmonds and stepdaughter, Shirley Hinkson.
Mr. Simmonds was born on Christmas Day, 1919, to Mr. and Mrs. Daniel Simmonds in Paraiso, Panama Canal Zone. He worked for the U.S. Government Civil Service Department of the Army. After retiring, he relocated to Hampton, Va., from New York. He was a member of St. Cyprian's Episcopal Church and Choir. In later years, he transferred his membership to St. Mark's Episcopal Church.
Mr. Simmonds is also survived by his stepdaughter, Monica Motley (Gilberto); and a host of loving nieces, nephews, and many friends.
A viewing will be held from 1 to 6 p.m. Friday, April 9, 2010, at the funeral home. A funeral service will be held 2 p.m. Saturday, April 10, 2010, at St. Mark's Episcopal Church, 2605 Cunningham Drive, Hampton, Va.
In lieu of flowers, please make all monetary donations to St. Mark's Episcopal Church.
