Lillian McDaniel Obituary

NEWPORT NEWS - Saint Lillian Pearl McDaniel, 85, died on Monday, Nov. 23, 2009.
A native of Emporia, Va., she had been a resident of Newport News for more than 65 years. She was born Aug. 11, 1924, to the late Edgar and Anna Tucker. Saint McDaniel was a member of the United House of Prayer where she was a member of the Sr. Queen Board, Senior Choir, former Kitchen Worker, Lady D. Madison Love Gift Booster, Soldierette of the Cross and Grace Emanuel Band Booster. She was retired from Frosty Seafood of Newport News.
She was preceded in death by her parents; her husband, Lawrence McDaniel; two sisters, Helen Ferby and Rachael Gray; and one brother, Howard Tucker.
She leaves to cherish her memories, her son, Steven L. Hatchett; one brother, Lewis Williams of Newport News; one sister, Saint Louise Wilkerson of Charlotte, N.C.; five nephews, Michael Ferby (Devoted), Elonzo Ferby (Janice), Donelle Tucker, Cornelle Williams (Darlene) and Dwight Williams; six nieces, Carrie Tucker, Juanita Gray, Angelina Ferby, Angela Friends (George), Sharon Williams and Elani Tucker; foster son, Deacon Eddie Perry; a foster daughter, Vanessa Wilkerson; a special friend, St. Elizabeth Brown; as host of great-nieces, great-nephews, cousins and friends.
A Service of Remembrance will be held 4 p.m. Sunday, Nov. 29, 2009, at the United House of Prayer For All People, 1811 Ivy Ave., Newport News. Viewing will be at the church on Sunday beginning at noon. Interment will be 10 a.m. Monday, Nov. 30, 2009, at Hampton Memorial Gardens.
