Linda YOUNG Obituary

PORTSMOUTH - Linda (Lin) Joan Young, 59, of Portsmouth, passed away Saturday, Oct. 30, 2010, at her home. Linda was born in Arlington, Va., on Sept. 7, 1951, and was one of seven children of Mary and the late James E. Young.
Linda was a kind and generous person. She enjoyed cooking and took great pleasure in creating dishes for friends and family. Linda also took great pride in preparing specialty fare at the diner in Chesapeake where she worked. Many of the diner patrons had grown to know Linda and were very fond of her.
She is survived by a son, Robert Canter of Texas; a daughter, Mindy Murray of Wisconsin; two granddaughters; two sisters, Mary of Williamsburg and Patricia of Connecticut; three brothers, John of Williamsburg, James Edward of Yorktown and Richard of Williamsburg.
She was predeceased by a sister, Barbara Booth. Linda will be greatly missed by her dear friends, Tracey and Sally.
A memorial service will be held at 10 a.m. Friday, at St. Olaf Catholic Church, Williamsburg, Va., with the Rev. Peter Creed officiating.
Snellings Funeral Home, George Washington Highway Chapel will be handling the arrangements.

I remember Linda as the young and beautiful girl in the picture as a member of a large family of brothers and
sisters. She was so sweet and had a
very loving family. She will be missed!
