Linda Knife Obituary

NEWPORT NEWS - Linda Sue Knife, 83, passed away on Thursday, Oct. 29, 2009.
Born on June 15, 1926, in Farmville to the late Albert Marston and Sarah Paulette, she was one of 14 children.
Being quite the adventure, Linda left home at the age of 18 to work in Richmond and Williamsburg. While working at a diner in Williamsburg she met the light of her life, Pvt. Hal Knife, and married him within the year. Linda became a career Army wife and truly loved and traveled with Hal wherever she could. Their union lasted 62 glorious years till Hal was called to his just reward in November of 2008.
Linda was a PRN, doing private nursing duties and later received a floral design license. Linda and Hal also ran a small thrift shop in Lee Hall for several years before they both retired.
Linda is survived by six children, Benjamin Knife of Regietertown, Md., Linda Roberts of Gloucester, Gary Knife of Lee Hall, Pamela Rossman of Williamsburg, Bea Lundy and David Knife of Newport News; eight grandchildren, and eight great-grandchildren.
Linda was a kind and generous person who loved nothing better than her family.
She will be thought of often and missed always.
Arrangements are under the care of Altmeyer Funeral Home – Denbigh Chapel, 12893 Jefferson Ave., Newport News, VA 23608. View and post condolences on our online guestbook at dailypress.com/guestbooks.

Grandma, you and Grandpa were always so sweet, kind, & loving. You guys were the example of how two people should live each other. We should all be so blessed to have the love of our lives with us for 62 years. I feel blessed to have had you and Grandpa to look up to. You are loved and missed every day.
