Lois SALAKE Obituary

HAMPTON - Lois Madeline Leftwich Salake, 85, died Thursday, Sept. 30, 2010.
She was born to Hattie and Elmo Leftwich in Bedford County, Va., and came to Hampton in 1943.
She worked for NACA where she met her husband, Paul Salake. Later she worked as a bus driver for Hampton City Schools. She also volunteered for Meals on Wheels starting in the 1960's.
Her main focus in life was her husband, family, friends, and her church, Aldersgate United Methodist Church where she was active in the Women's Society.
Surviving is her brother, Frank Leftwich; her children, Janice Salake of Hampton, Howard Salake of Hampton, James Salake of Jacksonville, Fla.; her niece, Charlotte Collingsworth of Sterling, Va.; and her nephew, John Leftwich of Newport News, Va.
Lois's life will be remembered at 3 p.m. Wednesday at Aldersgate United Methodist Church by Pastor David Cook. At 2 p.m. visitation with the family will be available in the Fellowship Hall of the church.
Instead of flowers the family wishes contributions be made to the church's 'Window Fund' at 151 Wythe Parkway, in Hampton, VA 23661.
