To Richard and The Burrell Family,
I am truly sorry about the passing of your mother. I will always remember Mrs. Burrell for taking care of us hungry ball players during lunch. She was a mother to us all.

To The Burrell Family,
Our deepest sympathy is extended to you in the passing of your loved one. Ms. Lucy helped to prepare some wonderful meals for us at IWT/Westside High School and during our summers in Connecticut, as well as, the many times Alvin stopped by her home for a meal. May God continue to bless each of you, and grant you peace.

To The Burrell Family: Please accept my deepest sympathy at the passing of Mrs. Burrell. I fondly remember her as a very caring and compassionate person. There were many days when I was a student at Westside High School and did not have $.25 for lunch and she would tell me to come back after everyone had eaten. Sure enough, everytime she would provide more than enough food to carry me through the day. I am sure she did the same for many others who honestly did not have the means. In hindsight, she risked her job caring for a lot of deserving kids. I will always hold her dear to my heart and I often share this when I reminence about my days growing up in Smithfield. May God continue to bless each of you and rest assured to know that her job was well done and she deserves the rest in Heaven.

Richard and I worked together years ago in the Shipyard at Newport News.
