Lula MIDGETTE Obituary
She was born in Pictolus, N.C., on Aug. 4, 1921, to George and Eliza Carr. She was one of seven children. She was educated in the Pitt County, N.C., Public Schools. On May 2, 1947, Lula was joined in Holy Matrimony to Leonard Augusta Midgette and remained his loyal life partner until his death on April 2, 1994. There were no children born to this union.
Lula traveled extensively with Leonard during his military career and once he retired, they settled in Newport News, Va., where Lula called home for her remaining years.
She leaves to cherish her memories of her life a brother, Mr. James Willie Carr Sr. of Suffolk, Va.; a devoted friend, Mrs. Cassandra Brown (Louis) of Newport News, Va.; and a host of nieces, nephews and other extended family.
A viewing will be held from 1 to 6 p.m. Thursday, Oct. 28, 2010, at the funeral home. A funeral service will be held 11 a.m. Friday, Oct. 29, 2010, at Nickelson-Cummings Funeral Chapel. Interment will follow in Greenlawn Memorial Park.
