Lydia SCOTT Obituary

SUFFOLK - Lydia E. Scott, 86, of Suffolk, passed away April 10, 2010, in her home.
A native of Asheville, N.C., she was the daughter of the late Walter and Idella Davis. She retired from the City of New York Hospital System as a Licensed Practical Nurse after 23 years of service. She also retired from Blue Cross/Blue Shield. She was a member of Flushing Christian Family Center. She was an avid volunteer of Hale House in New York and was volunteer of the year in 1998. She was a mentor for an adult reading group.
She is survived by her daughter, Sheila S. Poindexter; two grandchildren, James Poindexter of Newport News and Craig Rollins, of Bronx, N.Y.; a great-granddaughter, Niyah Rollins of Bronx, N.Y., and a loving family of nieces, nephews and cousins.
A memorial service will be conducted Saturday at 2 p.m. at Grace Harbor United Methodist Church. Snellings Funeral Home Churchland Chapel is handling the arrangements.
Memorials in lieu of flowers may be made to Grace Harbor United Methodist Church Missionary Fund or to Heartland Hospice, 5029 Corporate Woods Dr., Suite 110, Virginia Beach, VA 23462.
