Mamie COATES Obituary
Mamie was a faithful member of Groves Memorial Presbyterian Church and was retired from Eastern State Hospital. She will be remembered for her care and compassion she gave to her family and friends and the great spirit in which she lived her life. Mamie was a loving wife, mother, grandmother and sister who will be dearly missed.
She was preceded in death by her parents, Lambert and Maggie West; husband, James M. Coates; son, Wayne Coates; sisters, Isabel Lewis and Ruby Emerson; and brother, Linwood West.
She is survived by her daughter, Brenda Crewe and husband, Bobby; son, James W. Coates and wife, Andrea; grandchildren, Christy Henderson, Rachel Downs, Drew Coates, Heather Crewe; sister, Edith Coates; brothers, Clarence West and wife, Elsie, Edward West and wife, Brenda, Eugene West and wife, Bertie, James T. West and wife, Dorothy.
Funeral services officiated by the Rev. Fred Reed will be held at 11 a.m. Friday at Groves Memorial Presbyterian Church. Interment will follow in the church cemetery. The family will receive friends Thursday from 7 to 8:30 p.m. at Hogg Funeral Home, Gloucester Point. View and post condolences on our online guestbook at dailypress.com/guestbooks.

Brenda, I was so sorry to read of your Mom's passing. I know you will miss her terribly, but there are lots of fond memories that will help you through this difficult time.
I still use some of her recipes you shared with me when we worked together at Cheatham.
