Marian DEHOUX Obituary

MATHEWS - Marian B. Dehoux, 78, of Gwynn's Island went to be with the Lord on Friday Oct. 1, 2010, at Rappahanock General Hospital in Kilmarnock, Va.
Marian was born March 11, 1932, in Newport News, the youngest child of Benjamin Barnett and Fair Swindle. She graduated from Newport News High School and lived in Newport News and New Jersey before marrying Al Dehoux and moving to Gwynn's Island in 1960.
She worked for Mathews County Social Services and then for the Mathews County Sheriff's department retiring in 1996 after 16 years service.
She loved sports and was active in Mathews Little League for many years and attended games to watch her children and grandchildren play.
She was a loving mother, Nana and Grandma Dehoux and she never met a stranger. She loved to cook and one of her favorite times was when her table was surrounded by family and friends.
She is survived by her brother, Benny Barnett; a daughter, Sharon Hoy and her husband, Michael; four sons, Freddie and his wife, Janet, Mark and his wife, Robin, Jerry and his wife, Carol and Paul and his wife, Robin. She also leaves 13 grandchildren, Lisa Pattisall, John Kutch Jr., Jerri Kerlin, Joshua Dehoux, Jonathan Dehoux, Christopher Dehoux, David Dehoux, Rachel Dehoux, Zachary Dehoux, Timothy Dehoux, Regan Owens, Erika Brown, and Lindsey Brown. She also leaves to cherish her memory seven great-grandchildren, Taylor, Alyssa, Cheyenne, Syxx and James Pattisall, Austin Gillespie and Owen Kerlin and a host of friends and relatives.
She was preceded in death by her husband, Alfred A. Dehoux Sr.
There will be a graveside memorial service at the Gwynn's Island Cemetery,Gwynn, Va. On Saturday, Oct. 16, 2010, at 1 p.m. with fellowship immediately following at the Gwynn's Island Civic Center.
Memorial donations may be made to the Mathews Little League Association c/o Patrick Beattie, P.O. Box 85 : Foster, VA 23056.
