Marjorie KOHLENHOEFER Obituary

WILLIAMSBURG - Marjorie J. Kohlenhoefer, born Sept. 2, 1926, passed away on Dec. 19, 2009, at home, after a short illness.
She was preceded in death by her parents, James and Clevia Jackson; and two siblings, Arlene Smith and Earl Jackson.
Marjorie was born in Hanceville, Ala. After high school, she went to Washington, D.C., to work during WW II, where she met her husband, Ralph. They were married and celebrated 63 years together. They traveled, with Ralph's job, over the entire U.S., living in more than 25 different cities. They lived in Milton, Fla., for the last 27 years, before moving to Williamsburg, Va., to be near their son, in August of 2009.
Marjorie was an active and devout member of the First Baptist Church in Milton, Fla., and regularly attended church with her husband, where she also chaired the XYZ Group. Marjorie was also a member of the Milton Garden Club and the local AARP.
Marjorie is survived by her husband of 63 years, Ralph R. Kohlenhoefer; son, Greg Kohlenhoefer and his wife, Mary of Williamsburg; grandchildren, Adrienne Brannam and husband, Patrick of Jacksonville, Fla., Amy Kohlenhoefer of Orlando, Fla., and Greg Kohlenhoefer of Greenville, N.C.; and great-grandchildren, Hailey Brannam, Jackson Brannam, and Audrey Brannam.
Marjorie's love and devotion to her husband was very evident and was admired by all who knew her. Her unselfish adoration of her children, grandchildren, and great-grandchildren was known to them and all with whom she met, as she shared many stories about her family. Her smile, wit, and caring concern will be missed by her family and friends all over the country.
A memorial service will be held at 11 a.m. Wednesday, Dec. 23, at Nelsen Funeral Home, 3785 Strawberry Plains Rd., Williamsburg, VA.

Dear Uncle Ralph'

I have been so saddened by Aunt Marge's death. I have been wanting to call you, but I have been at a loss for words. When I found out about her passing by Greg, I was at a loss for words. Mary and I went over the memories of our visits with you all in Houston, San Antonio, and Del Rio. I remember when Aunt Marge first came to the house on Benton street in her white sailor suit. I must have been about 4 or 5 years old.

Remember, I Love You and Mary Love's you and we all loved Aunt Marge

Love,
Your nephew,
Gary and Mary

Hi Mr. Ralph - The entire Fetter family is so sad to hear of Miss Marge's passing. I keep a note from her on my desk, dated September 2nd, her 83rd birthday, to remind myself to keep in touch. We just heard from the Mayeaux family last night and I had mailed a Christmas newsletter to you only yesterday. We have wonderful memories of being your neighbors in Milton. Claire especially loved Ralph and Marge and knew that you loved her too. Thanks and love to you always. Beverly Fetter

Marge will always be remembered for her smiles and her energy. I most fondly remember sharing good times with Marge, and Beverly and Patrick, and our children. Marge loved all of us. God Bless her. I know she is shining, and sharing God's joy in heaven.

Mary and Greg, I didn't know your Mom, but know what a special person she was through you. What a blessing to have been married to your Dad for all those years. It isn't often that we hear of such a love story. I am glad she was near you all for these past months and that your Dad now has you so close. Take care, Love Jane

Ralph, What a sad note we received today informing us of the homegoing of my dear friend Marge. For many years, especially during my years in the church office, she was so special to me. My last time with her was the last Sunday before you moved away. She and I sat on the bench in the corridor of the church and she shared with me how exciting it was to start out on a new adventure with you in the move to be near your son. She was right when she said it was the right thing to do.

My prayers and thoughts are with you and the family during these difficult days.
