NEWPORT NEWS - Marlin Massey, 81, passed away peacefully at home on Sunday, Dec. 22, 2013. Born in Birmingham, AL, May 19, 1932, he was a long time resident of Newport News. Marlin was preceded in death by his mother, Juanita Waldrop, his father, Ulysses Massey and his son Brandon Massey. Marlin was a devoted husband, father, grandfather and son who valued family greatly. He had a passion for music, hot rods, wood working and old movies. He had the gift of gab as was evident in the many stories he was known to tell. He leaves behind to cherish his memory his beloved wife of 56 years, Barbara Massey, his cousin, Curtis Aiken whom he thought of as a brother. Children, Cathy Mulcahy (Mike), Raymond Massey (Donna) and Steven Massey (Lisa) and grandchildren, Rachel Thruston, Barbara Morris, Sean and Emily Mulcahy, Jessica and Dylan Massey, Austin, Cameron, Kailey and Evan Massey. Funeral services will be held at St. Jerome Catholic Church, Newport News Saturday, Dec. 28th. Visitation at 10:00am, service at 11:00am with reception at the church following internment at Peninsula Memorial Park. Funeral services will be provided by Weymouth Funeral Home. Donations may be made in lieu of flowers to The (donate.heart.org).
