Dear Miller Family, I was very saddened to read of Marty's passing in today's Yorktown Crier. He was a favorite of mine during my dealings at the post office in Yorktown. His kindness and patience were greatly appreciated when I would pop in with the numerous needs for the postage requirements of my business. I loved the sound of his voice and the twinkle in his eye when he would cheerfully assist me with my mundane purchases. He made the routine of going to the office more pleasant. I know you will miss him, but I promise you the sorrow you feel today will become less as time goes by. He was lucky to have a family to love and miss him.

Mary will be greatly missed. He was so kind and patient with me and my annual bulk mailings. May the memories of good times support you and your family during this time. My prayers are with you.

"I'm so saddened by Marty's passing. I brought our rack brochures to his bulk mail room several times throughout the years. He was always so helpful and cheerful. He made me feel good to see him. I will truly miss him. My prayers are with you and your family." Jan Johnston, Jamestown-Yorktown Foundation.

Dear Mrs. Miller and Family,
I am saddened to hear of Marty's passing away. I am a fellow USPS employee and I would have certainly called him and attended his service if I had known. You have my sympathy and I am praying for you. May God be your source of strength.
Sincerely,
USPS Employee

It is with a sad heart and soul, that I leave this condolence to you Wanda, and your family, at this time in your life, at the passing of Marty. I've know and respected him thoughout all of my postal career and always, always had a respect for his honesty while in my presence, and only hope that all the suffering that he and your family endured will be taken from you and a peace that only God can give will fill your hearts and minds from this day forward. May God bless you and keep you, may he make his face to shine upon you and give you that peace. Gary Alan Swarthout

I met Marty last January when mailing our church's monthly newsletters. We chatted every month about different topics. When it came time to mail the November newsletter, I learned that he retired the day before. He was a very good person, and it was a shock to learn of his passing. We will miss him.

Trey came into the dealership this morning and floored me with the news of Martys passing. As I write this, like anyone who just heard, I am in shock. Just a month or so ago Marty was in here talking about his retirement. I am so sorry for the families loss and also so sorry myself to have lost someone I considered a dear friend. I will never ever forget his snicker and his laugh. He was as good a man as I have ever known and will be sadly missed by all he came in contact with.
